3D Modeling

Physical QR Codes for Photo Submissions

Creating the 3D model involved design discussions with the team regarding its overall look and feel. Initially, we designed the 3D model to stand as our flyer, we wanted to draw a student’s attention, instead of them just looking at a paper flyer. In regards to the layout, we initially spoke about whether we wanted the model to be a literal open yearbook design with the QR code centered with our project title above. The final iteration was a closed book design with the QR code center front. We then added the Class of 2026 Logo, to symbolize that it was for our class year.

When it came to the QR codes, we discussed a storage location where the photos would be easily accessible. We chose Box as it was accessible to students on campus. We used “QR code monkey” to generate a QR code and then converted it into an SVG. After importing the SVG into Blender, we applied the QR code onto the model. We opted to keep the log in of the Box account open so that students didn’t have to go through the process of logging in, rather they could just submit their photos with ease.
